Industrial Cluster: Double Promotion Of Cotton Quality And Benefit In Xinjiang

Recently, the reporter learned from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Agricultural and rural bureau directors' meeting that in 2021, the supply and guarantee capacity of important agricultural products in Xinjiang will continue to improve, realizing the "double promotion" of cotton quality and benefit. Cotton area, yield per unit area, total output and commodity volume ranked first in China for 28 consecutive years. In 2021, the total cotton output in Xinjiang was 5.129 million tons, accounting for nearly 90% of the national cotton output. The key indexes such as cashmere length, color grade and breaking strength have been greatly improved.

This year, Xinjiang plans to consolidate the achievements of last year's substantial improvement in cotton quality, continuously optimize cotton production and variety distribution, promote cotton production to gather in 24 major cotton producing counties (cities), pay close attention to quality improvement, and ensure that the supply capacity of high-quality commodity cotton is stable at more than 5 million tons.
