In May 2016, the total retail sales of consumer goods in China totaled 26611 billion yuan (yuan yuan), an increase of 10% over the same period (the real growth of 9.7% after deducting the price factor, the nominal growth below the exception), the worst month in the past year.

In addition, by the relatively small number of promotional activities of enterprises in May, the growth rate of household appliance products above the limit was 8.4 percentage points lower than that of the previous month, while the growth rate of cultural and office supplies (including computer products) dropped by 5 percentage points, and the two kinds of commodities pulled the total retail sales of social consumer goods by 0.3 percentage points.
In 2016 1-5, retail sales of consumer goods totaled 129281 billion yuan, an increase of 10.2% over the same period last year.
Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods above the quota reached 58010 billion yuan, an increase of 7.4%.
In May 2016, sales of clothing, shoes and hats and needles increased by 5.9% to 109 billion 400 million yuan compared to the same period last year, which was only slightly better than the 4.4% increase in March, far less than the 9.8% increase in 2015. It also dragged down the overall sales growth in 7% months to 7%, which amounted to 565 billion yuan.
The cosmetic market growth slowed to 5.9% in May, bringing the growth rate to 9.1% in the first 5 months.
